The area on the other side of the River Arno from where I was staying is called the Oltrarno (literally means the other side of the Arno). I had many walks there during the three weeks to visit different sites with each of my guests. The neighborhood I was staying in was directly connected to one of the many bridges that cross the River.

One of my favorite spots to visit on the other side was the Piazzale Michelangelo which has magnificent views of the City, and is the place to be at sunset for drinks. Some of you may have had me raise a glass to you at happy hour from VIP’s bar. It is quite a hike to get up there but worth the views and people watching. I think I saw at least two weddings, a proposal and many couples having their engagement photos taken up there :)…
