The Holy Island of Lindisfarne

on

We set off for The Holy Island on a cold morning. You can only cross at low tide as the road gets covered with the sea. Very dramatic entrance through the flat wet sands with many pilgrims making their way on foot across the sands.

We celebrated a Celtic Holy Eucharist that morning in St Mary’s Church with Father James officiating.

They had a beautiful modern stained glass window with a Puffin.

A heart warming and delicious lunch, at where else but Pilgrim’s Coffee…

We then explored what we could in the hour we had remaining…the island that Aidan would escape his followers in order to pray.

Beautiful photo taken by Katie Wandoff.

Then we took a walk up to a lighthouse for the views and then made haste back to the coach!
