Durham Cathedral

on

While we were in Durham we went to Sunday services at the Cathedral, we also had a tour of the cathedral and on our last evening celebrated the Eucharist and had dinner at the Cathedral. Built in 1093 for the Benedictine monks the Cathedral houses the shrine to St. Cuthbert and is a world heritage site. It has been a place of pilgrimage for over 900 years. Here are some photos from our various experiences in this very holy place where two holy saints The Venerable Bede and St. Cuthbert rest and are remembered.

The newest stained glass window donated by parents of a Durham University student who sadly died while at Uni.

Our lovely guide of the Cathedral Lilian who brought a prayer for us, posing with Suzanne.
