On Tuesday a group of us got on a boat to go to the island of Staffa to find the Puffins who nest here in the summertime.

It was a very dramatic island with the most amazing hexagonal basalt rock formations and some very cool caves, including Fingals Cave, famous for inspiring Mendelson’s overture The Hebrides.

The stairs up to the top of the Island were steep but the views were worth it!

After seeing the puffins down on the ocean from afar, my new friend Patricia and I had a little picnic.

After our snack we went back down the stairs to the boat which took us to see them up close. If you squint you can see them!

We did get a better view of the seals though.

I love those hexagonal formations!
