The Beaches of Iona

We spent a few days taking different hikes around the island to the gorgeous beaches. The water was as clear and blue as the Caribbean Sea, although a ‘wee’ bit cooler! Here are some of the beaches we visited…

Columba’s beach – this is the beach where Saint Columba landed after leaving Ireland. They say the beautiful Iona Marble stones here are his tears from no longer being able to see his beloved Ireland.

Beaches on the west side of the Island, next to a golf course of all things. The course doubles as a field for sheep, who get far better use of it. They also appear to like to eat the kelp and seaweed on the beaches.
